Prep School Library: Art History: Pigments

This guide contains resources for PS students including database links, tutorials, book recommendations and more!

Project Instructions

Using the sources provided on the library website and at least one of the two books we’ve gone over in class, create a short presentation in Google Slides for the class that highlights the history of your assigned pigment, shows how it has been used over time, and provides some fun facts or stories about the pigment. Take us on a color journey with you! You will be presenting your pigment presentation next cycle.

Image Resources

You should include 5 slides with images of examples of your pigment. You may have to look beyond the sources in this guide to find those images--use this document with image sources, also found on Schoology.

If you decide to go "off the beaten path" for sources, remember they need to be academic and reliable.

Required Books

Remember, you must use one of the following as a source for your presentation:

Works Cited/Bibliography

Please include your works cited/bibliography on your final slide. Put all citations in MLA format. Not sure how to do that? Here's the basic format:

A book:
Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. City of Publication, Publisher, Publication Date.
A web site:
Last Name, First Name (if applicable). Title of Site. Name of Organization Affiliated with Site, Publication Date, url. Date Accessed.

No in-text citations or citations are needed!
